In a two-part series, Jane Ballback, Executive Editor, interviews Janet Graham co-producer and co-director of the compelling PBS documentary, “The Orphan Trains.” After receiving unprecedented exclusive access to the archives of the New York Children’s Aid Society, Janet and her co-director/producer, Ed Gray, spent five years fundraising, researching, filming and editing the film. It was broadcast on the PBS history series, “The American Experience” and received numerous awards including three Emmy nominations for Directing, Writing and Editing. David McCullough, the Pulitzer-Prize winning historian, described the film as “scholarly, groundbreaking, fine filmmaking that resulted in genuine historic discovery.” In Jane’s previous interview with Edward Gray, Ed described the history of this historic predecessor program to foster care.
